1.  It Will Rain by Bruno Mars

"Cause there'll be no sunlight
if I lose you, baby
There'll be no clear skies
if I lose you, baby
Just like the clouds,
my eyes will do the same if you walk away
Everyday, it will rain,
rain, rain, rain...

I love this song because of the lyrics. It describes someone leaving, and what happens to you after they leave. In the chorus, it compares the clouds raining  to his eyes tearing (simile). This helps show a scene of someone crying after someone they cared about has left or is gone.  He also writes that there'll be no sunlight and no clear skies (metaphor), so you get the image of a dark, gray, gloomy afternoon. Although these scenes are pretty sad and emotional, I still like the song because when someone leaves you, that's exactly how you feel.

2. Firework by Katy Perry

"Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams, but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you?

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh, oh, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh, oh, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down"

I chose this song because of it's fun, catchy rhythm. At the beginning it's comparing you to a plastic bag, and to a house of cards. This is because the song is talking about someone who is unnoticed, shy, ordinary, and who doesn't get recognized. So, it's comparing them to a plastic bag drifting through the wind, since they just drift without purpose, and paper thin like a house of cards because they may feel less appreciated or that they may "cave in". Katy uses the metaphor that they may feel buried deep, screaming but no one hears anything because they don't notice or acknowledge them. After listening to the beginning of the song, you visualize someone shy walking among a huge crowd who wants to be herd and recognized. In the next part of the song, I can imagine that same person singing or dancing showing everyone their talent, and being acknowledged, as if they are a firework.

3. Skyscraper by Demi Lovato

You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper, like a skyscraper"

This song is extremely inspiring for anyone who listens to the song, and can relate to everyone, too. It's basically saying that no matter what people or other situations do to you, even if they try to bring you down, you won't let them ruin you, and you'll end up succeeding. In the chorus, it using a simile (You can break everything I am Like I'm made of glass Like I'm made of paper)  by saying that people may try to break you or hurt you as i it's easy for them to do that. Also, it says that even if the do try to hurt you, you'll rise above them and thrive. When you are facing a challenge or maybe a person is constantly offending you, the song really motivates you to stay strong as well as advising you to no let anyone bring you down.

4. I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz
"When I look into your eyes
It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
There's so much they hold"

One of the reasons why I chose this song is because it's very uplifting. Even though the tune isn't cheerful, I really like the lyrics. Just like the name of the song, the chorus tells you to never give up even when things get difficult. At the beginning of the song when he describes someone's eyes, I imagine the eyes being intriguing, curious, and rare. What I like about those lyrics is that they can interpreted in many different ways. This means that everybody will imagine different types of eyes when they read those lyrics because the song writer doesn't specifically say blue, green or brown eyes like some songs do.
